Hungary Deplores Attack on Jewish Students

The attack by anti-Semttic students at the University here resulting in the severe injury of several Jews is explained in an official report just issued. The “ostensible ground for the attack was the stabbing of a drunken soldier a few days before the attack by a Jewish poultry dealer, it is declared. During the soldier’s funeral Christian students assailed their Jewish compatriots. A Socialist deputy raised the question in Parliamant and Premier Bethlen’s representative said the Government deplored the occurrence and had taken vigorous measures to prevent further disturbances and to arrest the ring leaders. If the Rector is unable to maintain order the Government will close the University, it is announce.
