Joseph C. Hyman, secretary of the Joint Distribution Committee and honorary secretary of the United Jewish Appeal, will be the principal speaker Sunday at the Connecticut United Jewish Appeal Conference, which will be held at the Hotel Taft, it was announced here today.
The purpose of the conference is to organize the State of Connecticut for speedy participation by its various communities in the United Jewish Appeal for relief and rehabilitation of Jews in Germany, Poland and other lands and the settlement of Jews in Palestine.
The officers of the Connecticut conference committee include Congressman H. P. Koppelmann of Hartford, honorary chairman; Barney Rapaport, Hartford; Hyman Jacobs, New Haven; Judge Morris Saxe, New Britain; Samuel Roodner, South Norwalk; Rabbi L. Greenfield, Waterbury, and Mrs. H. Grossman, New Haven, vice-chairmen; Louis Sachs, New Haven, secretary; Aaron Wittstein, Bridgeport, treasurer and Frank Dubinsky, Hartford, publicity chairman.
Bernard Stone, campaign director for New England, will also address the meeting.
KEW GARDENS TEMPLE PLANS NEARING FRUITION
Progress was reported Friday in plans for the formation of a reform congregation in Kew Gardens, talked about for several years.
Engagement of a rabbi has already been authorized, following a recent meeting held at the Kew Gardens Inn, at which time officers and trustees were elected.
