An important event in the activities of the Independent Order B’nai B’rith, the largest American Jewish fraternity with a membership of over 60,000 throughout the United States, is the forthcoming convention of District No. 1, which will take place in New York City beginning May 8.
Hon. Alfred M. Cohen, Cincinnati banker and industrialist, who is the president of the Order will arrive in New York to attend the convention. He will be the guest of honor at a banquet and reception at the Hotel Astor on May 9.
The convention, which will last three days, will be attended, it is expected, by several hundred delegates from the various Eastern States comprising the District.
Dr. Boris D. Bogen, formerly social worker during the war and representative of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee in various European countries, now executive secretary of the Order, will arrive today from Cincinnati to make final arrangements for the convention.
