I.o.b.b. District No. 1 Convention Opens in Buffalo

One hundred and fifty delegates representing the membership of District No. 1, Independent Order B’nai B’rith, are attending the seventy-seventh annual convention of the District at the Hotel Statler here. Acting Governor Herbert H. Lehman will be the principal speaker at a banquet on Sunday evening to be tendered to the delegates by the Buffalo convention committee.

District No. 1. I. O. B. B., comprises the 63 lodges in the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Eastern Canada, with a membership of 7,500.

Assemblyman Maurice Bloch, president of the District, will present his annual report. In addition to the reports by the General Committee and the various standing committees, reports will be rendered on the progress of the membership drive and the campaign of the Wider Scope Committee launched in this District last month. Announcement will also be made of the purchase of land in Yonkers, N. Y., for the erection of a new building for the home for Aged and Infirm, an institution maintained by District No. 1, for which an appropriation of $100,000 has been granted.
