The Preparatory Commission of the International Refugee Organization, which is now meeting here, was today informed by its secretariat that a ban on the acceptance of new DP’s in I.R.O. camps would have to remain in force unless more funds were made available to the agency.
The representatives of France, Guatemala and Holland demanded lifting of the ban, insisting that it was against the I.R.O. charter to bar assistance to persons sligible under its regulations. Jewish representatives here expressed concern over the fate of refugees arriving in Vienna who find themselves barred from I.R.O. aid.
William H. Tuck, executive secretary of the commission, has appointed Dr. Aron Syngalowsky, executive chairman of the World ORT Union to an advisory committee for the resettlement and vocational training of industrial specialists. The Joint Distribution Committee is also represented on the advisory body.
