Samuel Kaplan, inspector general of the Jewish Colonization Association colonies in Argentina, was killed when he fell from a station platform before an oncoming train. He was 70 years old.
A native of Poland, Mr. Kaplan came to the Argentine with his parents in 1895 and they settled on a farm in an ICA colony. His home was in the town of Basavol-basa where earlier this month he was host to Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett. His brother Isaac is honorary president of the Argentine Zionist Federation and president of the Jewish National Fund.
