The Jewish Colonization Association is planning an extension of its colonization activities in Palestine, Sir Leonard Cohen, president of the Association, revealed at yesterday’s meeting of the Anglo-Jewish Association.
The few colonies established in Palestine by the Jewish Colonization Association are doing well, Sir Leonard stated.
In the past the Association has had to use all its available resources for colonization work in the Argentine and on land which it had long acquired. For this reason it could not consider new activities, even in Palestine, where political and economic risks were nonexistent. Circumstances have changed, however, in the last few years, so that the Association will be enabled now to undertake its work in Palestine, he said.
The Association, Sir Leonard stated, will conduct its work in Palestine along colonization lines purely. It will not take any part in politics and will seek to avoid any friction with existing colonization activities.
