The Israel Defense Force is now completing arrangements to provide all its personnel serving in Lebanon adequate housing and clothing to ensure them as comfortable a winter as possible. Temperatures in the mountain areas of Lebanon, even those south of the Awali River, frequently drop below zero, with heavy snowfalls in some hill areas.
Permanent structures built north of the Awali River were dismantled and have now been re-erected in the new positions. Special winter clothing distributed to the soldiers is reported to have cost the army 50,000 Shekels (a little more than $600) for each man.
