Seventeen hundred refugees are being fed in the Straus Health Center and soup kitchens, in addition to the 1,200 regular recipients, the Zionist Executive reported in a cablegram despatched to Nathan Straus, American philanthropist. Eight hundred are receiving meals at the Straus kitchen in the Old City.
Immediately after the riots the Health Center sheltered about 500 refugees, principally from Hebron. They have since been evacuated to other public buildings. Preparations are now being made for a day nursery in the Center for about 100 refugee children.
