The British Government was warned today that bringing German war prisoners into Palestine for forced labor “is likely to disturb the peace of the country.”
The warning was issued in a resolution adopted by the executive council of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain. The resolution emphasized that the importation of Germans to Palestine for whatever purpose would be considered by the Jews of Palestine, Britain and the world-over to be an “outrageous provocation.”
“We hope,” the resolution says, “that His Majesty’s Government will give immediate attention to this earnest protest and that the Military authorities will be advised to respect the status of Palestine as a country of the Jewish National Home.”
