The income and the membership of the Young Poale Zion Alliance have doubled in the past year according to a report delivered at the 11th annual convention concluded here last night, by the national secretary, Maurice Cohen of New York.
The organization has now 75 groups in various cities in the United States and Canada. One hundred delegates attended the sessions.
Many of the delegates, who are students and other workers without jobs, unable to pay railroad fare, came to the convention on foot from all parts of the country.
The organization, it was reported, is carrying on an intensive educational activity. Seven pioneers, it was announced, will leave for Palestine immediately after the convention, as representatives of the Alliance.
The convention was greeted by representatives of the Poale Zion, the Jewish National Workers Alliance, the Pioneer Women’s Organization and the Socialist Party.
Among the speakers were Nechame Barnoff, representing the local organization; Sholom Sielgel, a member of the National Executive; Dr. I. Appelbaum, and Meyer Brown, both representing the Jewish National Workers Alliance; Golda Meyerson, representing the Histadruth of Palestine; M. Sanders, the Socialist Party; Sam Collins, the Young Socialist Party; Haim Greenberg,, the Poale Zion and Zeire Zion and Jacob Lemberger of the National Executive Board.
