Deputy Defense Minister Zvi Dinstein predicted today that in five to eight years, Israel will produce up to 70 percent of its defense requirements compared with the present 20 to 25 percent.
Speaking at a meeting of the Association for the Advance of Science at the Weizmann Institute, he added that Israel’s high defense outlays were responsible for at least half of Israel’s trade deficit.
