An Indian wrestling team which was scheduled to compete with an Israeli team, left for home last night on the same plane which brought them earlier in the evening after notifying Israeli officials that Indian authorities had instructed them not to compete in Israel. The match was to have taken place tonight in Ramat Gan.
Israeli sports officials and representatives of the Foreign Ministry were notified of the cancellation only last night when they met the plane carrying the visiting team on their arrival at Lydda Airport from London. The captain of the Indian team accepted flowers from the Isreli hosts but said that his team was under instructions not to compete in Israel. After the plane was refueled, the visitors left for India.
