Local police were today investigating the overturning of seven tombstones in the cemetery of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. Meanwhile, Police Capt. J. Ambuhl has assured Rabbi Maurice Goldblatt of the congregation, that police will maintain a watch over the cemetery to prevent further desecration.
The Jewish Community Relations Council of Indianapolis has appointed a special committee to work with the police and the congregation to bring the vandals to justice. It was pointed out that this is not the first instance of such desecration at the cemetery.
