The Jewish Theological Seminary announced today that a new publication fund had been established by Dr. Clarence W. Efroymson of Indianapolis, to be used for publication of contemporary writing in the fields of Jewish philosophy and theology.
Dr. Efroymson, a Butler University economist and leader in the Indianapolis Jewish community, contributed $17,000 to set up the Bar Ephraim Fund. Dr. Louis Finkelstein, JTS Chancellor, lauded the gift which he said will help to make possible publication of scholarly works which sell too slowly to be acceptable to commercial publishers. The income from the fund will be used to publish such works and the Seminary will have the right to use all or part of the principal for the same purposes.
