The suicide of Hugo Levy, owner of the well known textile firm Pitsch at Newawes, near Berlin, created consternation yesterday in that German textile center. Six hundred workers in his plant were thrown out of employment at the closing of the factory on account of his death.
Herr Levy was a popular figure in the textile center, and called “father of the workers.” He was noted for his advocacy of progressive measures in industrial problems.
