The Daily Herald reported today that Jews of Johannesburg are spending large sums to insure themselves against the possibility of German domination in South Africa.

The rates quoted for such policies are extremely low because such a contingency is held remote, according to the paper.

Wealthy Jews are quoted as contending that at least one cabinet member is pro-German. The possibility of eventual return to Germany of Southwest Africa is also being watched by Jewish business men, since such an eventuality would vastly stimulate German influence within the South African Union.

One Jewish broker whose fortune is estimated at $2,500,000 is reported to have spent $50,000 on a policy insuring him against being forced to abandon his business. He is also said to have taken policies against destruction of his home by Nazi agitators.
