A campaign to raise $5,000,000 for the construction, of a “temple of understanding” here to represent the six major faiths of the world, was announced here last night by the Women’s International Religious Fellowship of the Montgomery County Unitarian Church in nearby Bethesda, Maryland.
The building, to be built of glass and marble, will have six extended wings radiating from a central core, each representing one of the world’s major religions–Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Among the religious leaders serving as directors of the project is Rabbi Israel Goldstein. Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman is one of the sponsors.
