The Council of Christians and Jews, meeting here today for the first time under the chairmanship of the new Archbishop of Canterbury, decided to take preparatory steps for the convocation of an international conference of Christian and Jewish leaders to be held in England during the Summer of 1946.
The conference will be devoted chiefly to questions connected with combatting anti-Semitism. Rev. Henry Carter, chairman of the executive committee, reported to the Council that interested groups in France, Switzerland and other countries in Europe have suggested that the parley should concentrate on the future of the displaced Jews and on the problem of fighting anti-Semitism.
