The formation of an Israel council to advise and assist in the arrangements for the projected international conference on the advancement of science to be held in this country next Summer, was announced today by Abba Eban, president of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
The council includes personalities from all walks of life here as well as representatives of Israel’s institutes of higher learning. The international gathering, scheduled to take place in Rehovot in July of next year, will feature a panel of 30 prominent speakes.
Dr. Amos Manor was nominated general secretary of the conference, while an organizational committee has been established from the staff of the Weizmann Institute. The purpose of the conference is to examine ways by which new states could be aided by science and technology in solving their acute social and economic problems.
