The international “Zimriya”–choral festival–opened here last night with 1,500 persons from many countries singing for a huge audience in the audience were Premier Moshe Sharett, Knesset Speaker Joseph Sprinzak, member of Parliament and diplomats of many countries.
Six choirs from Israel were joined by singers from the United States, Eire, Italy France, Turkey, Britain and Yugoslavia in a selection of Jewish and Hebrew songs. The concert was the first ever presented in the Frederick Mann Auditorium, the new home of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
