Ira Guilden, industrialist and Jewish communal leader, was inducted today as chairman of the newly established National Council of the Foundation for the Jewish National Fund at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. More than 200 prominent civic and Jewish leaders from all parts of the nation, who comprise the National Council, attended the event.
The Foundation for the Jewish National Fund, in the few years of its existence, has mobilized a potential pool of funds in the amount of $14,000,000 through wills, bequests and insurance assignments for the purpose of establishing land development and afforestation projects in Israel bearing the names of their donors.
