Iran’s foreign minister said his country was in indirect contact with the United States over plans to fight world terrorism. Kamal Kharrazi made the remarks on the eve of a visit to Iran by British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw to discuss cooperation against terrorism. According to some reports, Straw, who is the first British foreign minister to travel to Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, might be carrying a message from Washington.
