Irrigation of 750,000 Acres Planned in Palestine, Will Be Able to Absorb 500,000 Settlers

Long-range plans for an irrigation system that will reach throughout Palestine have been made by the Palestine Economic Corporation, the largest American business enterprise in that country, it was announced by Julius linon, president of the corporation, at a press conference today. Mr. Simon, whose headquarters are in Jerusalem, arrived in the United States on Wednesday for a brief visit, During his stay, he will arrange for the export of American machinery to Palestine.

Mr. Simon said that the system of country-wide irrigation which has been planned with the aid of American experts will permit irrigation of approximately $50,000 acres and make possible the establishment of about 100,000 additional farms with a total farming population of about 900,000 persons. When this project is developed, he pointed out, it will enable Palestine to absorb several million immigrants.
