Irving Edison of St. Louis was re-elected president of the National Jewish Welfare Board last night at the annual meeting here of the J.W.B. board of directors.
The first presentation of three Frank L. Weill awards for distinguished service in three spheres of activity in the J.W.B. were also made at last night’s meeting. Honored were: Prof, Mordecai M. Kaplan, rabbi and founder of the Reconstructionist Movement, for the “development of an indigenous American Jewish culture,” Milton Weill, chairman of the J.W.B. Armed Services Division, for his role in behalf of Jewish serviceman and women; and Louis Kraft, general secretary of the World Federation of Jewish Community Centers and YMSA’s, for his contributions to the growth and advancement of the Jewish center movement.
