Irving Kane of Cleveland was elected today as chairman of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. He succeeds Rabbi Philip S. Bernstein of Rochester, N.Y., who has served as chairman since 1954 and was elected honorary chairman. The committee was organized in 1954 to conduct public action aimed at maintaining and improving friendship and goodwill between the United States and Israel.
