Isaac Pacht, one of the two Judges of the Los Angeles Superior Court, of the Jewish faith, appointed by Governor Rolph last year to fill vacancies, was reelected by a vote of almost two to one against his opponent Charles P. Johnson, assistant County Prosecutor.

Judge Pacht, although leading the field of candidates in the primaries did not have a clear majority at that time. In this respect he was less fortunate than Judge Lester W. Roth, head of the Jewish Consumptive Relief Association, who was re-elected at the primaries.

Harry Lyons, the only other Jewish candidate in the county of Los Angeles lost his race for the Assembly on the Republican ticket, which seat he has held for several terms in the past. Lyons was the father of the California Kosher Bill.
