Israel Accepts U.N. Pact on Free Importation of Books, Newspapers

Israel has become the ninth nation to ratify or accept the agreement to wipe out trade barriers on the importation of educational, scientific and cultural materials, sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

The agreement is designed to assist the free flow of information by wiping out customs barriers on books, newspapers and a wide range of scientific and cultural materials. In addition to the nine countries which have ratified or accepted the agreement, 20 other countries have signed it.
