Israel’s acceptance of the U.N. Trusteeship Council’s invitation to send a representative to participate in the Council discussions on the Jerusalem issue will be forwarded today to Goneva, it was officially announced here, An Israel spokesman reiterated that the Jewish state’s views on proposals to internationalize the Holy City ramain unchanged.
(It was reported from Geneva last night that the Trusteeship Council adopted a resolution formally inviting Israel and Jordan to send qualified representatives to address the Council on the question of internationalization of Jerusalem. The two representatives will have the right to attend and speak at all Council sessions devoted to the Jerusalem issue, but will not have the right to vote. A resolution to extend a similar invitation to the Vatican was withdrawn.
(The Israel delegation does not expect to make its appearance in Geneva, under any circumstances, before the end of this week, Meanwhile, the Trustesship Council has resumed general debats on the Jerusalem issue, No statements are expected, however, from the representatives of Britain and the United States during the debate, until the views of Israel and Jordan have formally been put before the Council.)
