Israel Ambassador Abba Eban this week end held a general review of Middle Eastern problems with Deputy Undersecretary of State Robert D. Murphy. Mr. Eban refused specific comment on questions discussed with Mr. Murphy when he saw reporters after their meeting. Israel Minister Reuven Shiloah and Col. Katriel Salmon, military attaches at the Israel Embassy here, accompanied Mr. Eban to the 65-minute talk.
Asked whether he talked about Israel’s interest in the current Suez Canal crisis the Israeli envoy replied, “You can assume we have discussed everything of interest in the area.” He made no comment on the United States proposal for the Canal’s operation by an international agency tied to the United Nations. He also declined to comment on the possibility of an Israeli canal as an alternative to Suez.
