David Elazar, a Youth Aliyah graduate, was named commander today of the Israel Armored Corps, replacing Brigadier Chaim Bar Lev who is going to the United States for a two-year study tour. Brig. Elazar, who was born in Yugoslavia and came here in 1940, rose through the ranks to the command of a brigade in Israel’s 1956 Sinai campaign.
