Berl Leib Farkash, 44, a Jew who arrived at Haifa yesterday as a stowaway aboard the liner Jerusalem, from Marseilles, will be deported at the earliest possible date as an “undesirable,” the Ministry of the Interior announced here today.
According to police and the Ministry, the man has been sought by Interpol, the international police, for crimes committed under various aliases in the United States, Switzerland, Mexico, Belgium, Britain and South Africa. He told the captain of the Jerusalem, when he was discovered aboard the ship, that his name was Bernard Vidar, that he was a Pole who had fled first to Hungary, then to France, and now seeks asylum in Israel. The Interior Ministry said he is now being held by the police, and will be expelled for illegal entry.
