The Jewish National Fund has announced that 20,000 dunams of land (5,000 acres) have been reclaimed in the Golan Heights and have been made arable for use by 10 Nahal para-military settlements which have been established in the former Syrian territory since the June, 1967 Six-Day War. According to the JNF announcement, some of the land already under cultivation has yielded vegetable crops that have been exported to Europe. The JNF has built 40 miles of roads between the new settlements and connecting them with the main highway.
