Dimitri Chuvakhin, USSR Ambassador to Israel, was briefed at the Foreign Ministry here yesterday evening on the latest developments along the Syrian-Israeli border and on the extraordinary meeting held yesterday by the Israeli-Syrian Mixed Armistice Commission.
Senior officials of the Foreign Ministry, including Yosef Tekoah, the deputy director-general who had been one of Israel’s participants in yesterday’s ISMAC session, participated in the briefing. Mr. Tekoah reiterated to the Soviet envoy Israel’s desire for tranquility along its borders.
