The Cabinet yesterday approved recommendations submitted by a Ministerial Committee aimed at the prevention of abuses of Israeli passports by persons living abroad.
It is understood that the proposed measures would affect the current procedure of granting newcomers passports immediately and the renewal of passports of Israelis who reside abroad for extensive periods. Interior Minister Moshe Shapiro is expected to give full details of the measure when he presents the Ministry’s budget to the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament.
