The Israel Cabinet today approved relaxation of its military rule in areas in which about half of the Arab population of Israel dwells.
A military spokesman, explaining that the action was due to an improvement in the military situation in the northern part of the country, estimated that 75,000 Arab citizens of Israel would benefit directly from the far-reaching relaxations. Only a very small strip of land along the border has been exempted from the easement.
In the remainder of the areas under military rule the movement of Arab citizens will be eased by quicker granting of permits, which are now good for at least six months.
