The possibility of a crisis in the Israel Cabinet became more likely today when a delegation of the Religious Bloc submitted this morning an ultimatum to Acting Premier Eliezer Kaplan, insisting that the demands of the religious groups with regard to religious education in the immigrant camps be complied with by Friday.

When the Acting Premier asked the delegation to extend their ultimatum until Monday, he was met with a refusal. He then told the delegation that he would raise the issue at today’s meeting of the Cabinet and will also consult Premier David Ben Gurion who is now convalescing in Tiberias. Today’s Cabinet meeting was again marked by the absence of members of the Religious Bloc who have been abstaining from attending Cabinet sessions since last week.
