Political problems were the major subjects of discussion at yesterday’s meeting of the Cabinet, it was learned today. Among other matters, the Ministers considered Israel’s relations with various states.
The problem of the controversial “unemployment tax” has been left for an extraordinary session this week. The major parties of the coalition are split over the advisability of such a tax to raise funds for the relief of unemployment, with the Mapai favoring the tax and the General Zionists opposing it.
Premier David Ben Gurion, who returned yesterday from a ten-day convalescent leave, took an active part in the Cabinet discussions.
