The Israel Cabinet met last night with the Israel Ambassadors to Washington, London, Paris and Moscow participating in a full dress review of Israel’s foreign policy.
The ambassadors reported on the political climate in the capitals to which they are assigned, and answered specific questions from the ministers on how different governments had reacted to specific developments in relation to Israel. Premier David Ben Gurion and Foreign Minister Golda Meir briefed the envoys on government policy.
It was learned here today that the Government of Israel has strengthened its permanent delegation at the United Nations by adding to the group a top expert on the armistice agreements with Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. The expert, who will advise Abba Eban. Israel’s chief delegate, is Arieh Eilan, for the last three and a half years assistant to the director of the armistice affairs department of the Israel Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, the Ministerial Economic Committee decided last night to undertake a survey of the technical and economic problems involved in the construction of a deepwater port in the southern part of Israel. The committee also considered the feasibility of producing salt at Eilath.
