Israel is capable of absorbing a quarter of a million immigrants during the next five years but could double that number if the need arises. Absorption Minister Nathan Peled said today. Peled spoke at a new immigrants’ township at Karmiel in Upper Galilee. He said the rapid growth of Israel’s economy made possible the absorption of such large numbers of newcomers.
