The Israeli Air Force can successfully compete against the new Egyptian and Syrian air weapons like the Soviet MIG-17, Col. Dan Tuliowski, the Air Force commander, said in a statement issued in connection with Air Force Week which began today. He said the Air Force was making the utmost efforts to ensure preparedness “if we shall have to meet the new Egyptian arms.”
The need for technicians skilled in electronics to lead a modern army was stressed today by Gen. Moshe Dayan, Israeli Army Chief of Staff, in an address to new cadets. The 22-man French Parliamentary delegation currently touring Israel, the French Ambassador and many other notables attended the ceremonies at which Gen. Dayan also called for perpetual alertness despite the “present lull” along Israel’s borders.
