On the eve of Succoth festival the Chief Rabbinate of Israel has appealed to synagogues throughout the world to offer special prayers for world peace this Saturday, the Sabbath of Succoth.

In ancient times it was customary to sacrifice 70 bulls during this Sabbath as an offering for peace for the 70 nations which comprised the contemporary world. Speical peace prayers will be recited on Mount Zion here during the holiday.
