Israel could conceivably attack an Iranian nuclear reactor, a leading U.S. senator said. “Hypothetically that issue is raised always because of the attack on the Osirak reactor in Iraq by the Israelis in the early 1980s,” Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told the National Press Club on Wednesday.

A prominent critic of John Kerry apologized for suggesting the candidate’s Jewish background made his Catholicism suspect. In a March posting to the conservative Web site Free Republic, Jerry Corsi wrote, “After he married TerRAHsa, didn’t John Kerry begin practicing Judaism? He also has paternal grandparents that were Jewish. What religion is John Kerry?”
