The Israel Government has agreed in principle to the admission of German technicians where they are urgently needed to set up machinery and equipment obtained from West Germany as reparations, it was announced here today.
It was also announced that a special Ministerial committee–composed of Trade Minister Peretz Bernstein, Development Minister Dov Joseph and Minister without portfolio Peretz Naphtali–would study and rule on each application for the admission of a German expert.
The appointment of such a committee was a compromise worked out at last Sunday’s meeting of the Cabinet during a discussion of a request from the public corporation which handles all reparations goods arriving in Israel, for the admission of German technicians who were needed in assembling many machines. After objections by several Ministers, it was decided to set up the special committee which was ordered to grant permission only in cases where Israel technicians cannot be found to do the necessary work.
