Israel and the Council of Ministers of the European Economic Community today officially ratified the new protocol signed by Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban Feb. 1? It provides for the “freezing” of current taxes and customs on Israeli exports to the nine-member EEC for the current year and for the elaboration of a new economic agreement by Jan. 1, 1974.
The new agreement will be negotiated within the framework of the EEC’s “global policy” towards the Mediterranean free trade zone as provided by the Council of Ministers in Nov. 1972.
