There will be no national election in Israel before January, 1953, Premier David Ben Gurion declared last night on a nationwide radio broadcast.
Mr. Ben Gurion also outlined his program for dealing with a number of deficiencies within the governmental set-up and appealed to all sections of the population to join in a determined campaign to end the blackmarket. He stated that the government is determined to wage a no-holds-barred battle against the blackmarket and blackmarketeers.
The Premier (told his listeners that he would present his program for ending excessive centralization in the government to the Parliament when it reassembles. He reported that the major objectives of the government will continue to be strengthening of national defense and the pressing of a vigorous immigration policy.
Mr. Ben Gurion pointed out that this policy will further aggravate the shortage of essential commodities in Israel as will the continued deficit between imports and exports. He reported that exports for the period of June, 1948, to July, 1950, totalled in value 19,000,000 pounds, while imports amounted to 163,000,000 pounds.
