Dr. William Haber, president of the American ORT Federation warned today that Israel faced “a serious and growing crisis in the vocational education of its younger generation. ” Mr. Haber said that several thousand youngsters were being turned away each year from Israel’s vocational high schools “simply because there was no room. “
Ambassador Avraham Harman will be guest of honor at a dinner session of the organization’s national conference on Sunday. The session will consider the problem of Israel’s shortage of vocational education facilities. The 500 delegates will be asked to consider an ORT budget which would continue the large-scale programs for Jewish repatriates in Poland and economic rehabilitation activities among a half million depressed Jews in Moslem lands.
