The Israel Embassy made known today that Israel Finance Minister Levi Eshkol and Ambassador Abba Eban yesterday held detailed discussions on Israel’s financial and economic position with Gen. G.E. Edgerton, newly appointed chairman of the board of directors of the Export-Import Bank.
In other meetings in Washington yesterday Mr. Eshkol explained Israel’s finance problems including sales plans and problems arising from Israel’s short term indebtedness. This conversation took place at the Treasury Department. Various problems relating to Israel’s food supply were discussed with Secretary of Agriculture Ezra T. Benson.
