The Government today formally announced the appointment of Avraham Harman as Israel’s Ambassador to the United States. The Cabinet gave its formal approval of the appointment at its meeting yesterday, but the announcement finalizing the action was held up until today, when notification was received from Washington that the United States Government has officially accepted the new nominee as Ambassador.
Mr. Harman is well known in the United States. For a number of years, he was Israel’s Consul-General in New York. Since quitting that post, he has been here as a leading member of the Jewish Agency executive.
