The Israel Government received last night the full text of a new Soviet note charging Israel with responsibility in the “Western aggression” in Jordan for permitting British military aircraft to cross its territory en route from Cyprus to Jordan. The missive had previously been handed to Col. Joseph Avidar, Israel’s Ambassador to Moscow.
The Foreign Ministry declined today to comment on the communication, pending careful study of its contents. Observers here had been expecting the second Soviet note because Italy, which had received a Soviet protest immediately after the American landings in Letanon and the British landings in Jordan, had been handed a second note some days ago.
